Some candle companies out there like to 'bash' paraffin candles saying that burning a paraffin candle is like running an engine in your home. Some sites will go as far to say that paraffin candles release toxins into the air and that there are no studies showing that paraffin candles are indeed dangerous or toxic.
You , as a consumer have to make a decision based on your personal views on the environment.
